James Evesson Wilson

James “Jimmy” Evesson Wilson Sr., 72, of Slidell, Louisiana passed into glory on January 14, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy was born in Marietta, Georgia the son of Jack Owen Wilson Sr. and Hulda Grace (Munoz) Wilson.

Jimmy graduated from Redemptorist High School in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1972. He married the love of his life, Charmaine Daire, in 1974 and remained married until his passing for an amazing 51 years. After marriage Jimmy and Charmaine went on to have four sons and ten grandchildren.

Jimmy dedicated most of his work life to the food sales industry, making many friends along the way. As an avid sports fan, he loved playing golf, coaching his sons, and always attended as many of his grandchildren’s sporting events as possible. Jimmy always loved spending time with family and friends. While Jimmy had many highlights throughout his life, his most significant milestone came in 2018, when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His relationship with his Savior and passion for his church family, became most important in his life.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Owen Wilson Sr. and Hulda Grace (Munoz) Wilson. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Charmaine (Daire) Wilson; children, James Wilson Jr. (Tanya), Joseph Wilson (Laura), Ryan Wilson (Rusti), Steven Wilson (Ansley); grandchildren, Taylor, Riley, Landyn, Millee, Emma, Callie, Colton, Chapel, Palmer, James III; brothers, Jack (Debbie), David (Crystal), Sydney and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Slidell on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life service will immediately follow. 

In lieu of flowers gifts may be made in his honor to Mission at the Cross (One Freedom Square, Laurel, MS 39440) or First Baptist Slidell (4141 Pontchartrain Dr., Slidell, LA 70458) 

His family expresses their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans for providing the highest level of care with the greatest degree of compassion.
