James Linwood Crawford, a resident of Pearl River, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, in Slidell at the age of 71. Born on May 4, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, James lived a life centered on family, his country, and his relationship with the Lord. He will be remembered for his devotion to all those he loved. He had 30 years of devoted service to GSA (General Services Administration) as the building Manager. Also, he spent 8 years with the Coast Guard as a civil servant, training recruits in the electrical field. He was an avid LSU sports and Saints football fan.
James is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Crawford, with whom he enjoyed camping and outdoor activities. He was a devoted father to Michelle Savage (Greg), Sabrina Crawford Verneuil, and Brandon Crawford (Kelly). He also leaves behind his beloved brother, Ricky Crawford (Lisa) and sister in law Carol H. Sievers (Jim). He will be truly missed by numerous nieces and nephews, especially Riley Crawford. James was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil J. Crawford and Christine T. Crawford, as well as his beloved granddaughter Valerie West.
He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Lily and Mia West; Preston and Peyton Crawford; and Hannah Verneuil. He was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Remi Crouch, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
A service to celebrate James’s life will be held on April 4, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home in Covington, Louisiana. Interment will follow at the same location.
James will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, family, and his dedication to his Lord and Savior will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
