James Arnold “Jimmy” Breaux, age 85, passed away at his home in Covington, LA on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Born and raised in New Orleans, Jimmy was a man of remarkable creativity, endless curiosity, and a deep appreciation for art, history, and the rich culture of his beloved hometown.

The son of the late James Breaux, Jr. and Maria Francoise Danigole Breaux, Jimmy proudly served in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class (AO2). Following his military service, he enjoyed a career with Jefferson Parish before retiring.

A gifted artist, Jimmy created beautiful sketches, watercolors, and metal sculptures, including intricate mobiles. An avid reader and world traveler, he especially enjoyed exploring Europe's artistic and cultural treasures. He loved quoting poetry, sharing a good joke, and surprising others with fascinating historical facts. His curious mind and creative spirit made even ordinary conversations memorable.

On December 23, 2003, Jimmy married Luz Maria Breaux and wholeheartedly embraced her family as his own. The loving bonds he developed with his bonus children and grandchildren became a cherished part of his life and legacy.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his late wife, Loekie tenWolde Breaux.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Luz Maria Breaux; his bonus daughter, M. Carmen Brisolara, and her children, Lauren, Anthony (Tony), and Dominick; his bonus son, William A. Lyles, Jr., his wife, Aimee, and their sons, Jacob and Thomas; and his brothers, Stuart A. Breaux (Mary) and Leonard J. Breaux (Alicia, Leonard J. Breaux, Jr. and Nicole Marie Breaux).

Jimmy will be remembered for his artistic talents, his love of learning, his wonderful sense of humor, and the warmth he brought to those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on through the art he created, the stories he shared, and the family he loved.

A private family gathering will be held to honor his life.
