James Sidney Blossman, Jr., a cherished member of the Covington, Louisiana community, passed away on April 30, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on January 11, 1937, in Covington, he spent his life dedicated to family, friends, and service to his community.
James was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge 188 and actively participated in the Shriner’s, and Lions Club, sharing his time and efforts for the betterment of those around him. He also enjoyed early mornings with the Pete Fountain Half-Fast Walking Club, where he found companionship and joy in the simple act of walking.
As a member of the GNOTC, Fishing was one of James's greatest passions, and he often found peace by the water, enjoying the tranquility it brought him.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his children: Renda Simoneaux and her husband Brandon, James S. Blossman III, and Rebecca Blossman-Ferran. He is also survived by his brothers, Mike Blossman and Tommy Blossman. James was a devoted grandfather to Sidney, Samuel, and Harrison Simoneaux, and Elizabeth and Haas Ferran, who will carry his memory forward.
James was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Blossman; mother, Opal Blossman; wife, Betty Gottfried Blossman; and brother, Jerry Blossman. His legacy of love and service will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at The American Legion Post 16, 2031 Ronald Reagan Hwy, Covington, LA 70433 beginning at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2025.
