Herbert Lee Coakley Jr. passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the age of 79.

He is survived by Patsy Coakley; his children, Troy Coakley (Michelle), Shannon Coakley, Angela Coakley (Joshua), and Melissa C Gleason (Keith).
Grandfather "Pawpaw" of Dennis “Trey” Galloway III, Dalton Galloway, Corey Coakley (Tiffany), Austin Coakley, Brandon Coakley, Madison Coakley, Allison “Ally” Coakley, Brantley Parish Coakley, Cameron Coakley, Samantha Gleason, and Great-Grandfather to Bryson Galloway. Also survived by his brother, Kevin Coakley (Dale), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Lee Coakley Sr. and Juanita Louise Johnson Coakley, and his brother, Michael D Coakley. Mr. Coakley was a native of Kenner and a resident of the Northshore for 40 years. Mr. Coakley proudly served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2003.

A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Coakley to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
