Henry Louis Jaubert

July 14, 1944 — November 6, 2023

Mandeville, Louisiana

Henry Louis Jaubert, age 79, of New Orleans, Louisiana, departed this life peacefully on November 6th, 2023.  A son of New Orleans, Henry was born July 14, 1944 to the late Flora “Billie” Feraud Begue and Warren Louis Jaubert. An alumnus of Alcee Fortier High School, class of 1962, Henry's quest for knowledge and passion for science led him to Tulane University, where he studied electrical engineering and graduated in 1968.

Henry's early career saw him contribute to the marvels of space exploration as an engineer on the Saturn V rocket booster for NASA's Apollo Program. He later joined the team at WVUE in New Orleans as a broadcast engineer. In 1980, Henry's journey continued with Litton Data Systems, where he contributed to the development of the Aegis radar system. His career evolved alongside the company, transitioning to Northrop Grumman, where he dedicated 30 years of service, culminating in his retirement in 2010. Henry's innovative spirit and engineering excellence left an indelible mark on the field.

Beyond his professional achievements, Henry's heart belonged to his grandchildren. He poured love and joy into making Christmas and birthdays unforgettable, treasuring each moment spent with family. His compassion extended to his beloved rottweiler, Zeus, with whom he is now reunited.

Henry had a profound love for science and astronomy. He shared this passion with his family, creating lasting memories like witnessing the night launch of Apollo 17 in December 1972. His wisdom and unique perspective on life, often saying, “If it can be fixed with money, it is not that big of a problem,” will be remembered by his family.  Henry loved photography and the outdoors and often enjoyed Yosemite and Lake Tahoe while living in California. As a young father he enjoyed taking his family on camping journeys in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.  Known for his generous spirit and inventive mind, Henry was always there to lend a hand and his unwavering support of others will be missed. He was a beacon of love and guidance to his family and all who knew him.

Henry is survived by his loving children, Henry “Hank” Jaubert (Katie), Lisa Jaubert (Dan Casey), Marc Jaubert (Cathy), and his sister-in-law, Lisa Shelton Jaubert. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Michael, Paul, Sophia, Mary Ellen, Christine, Gabrielle, Margaret, Catherine, Elaine, Marc Jr., and Deborah Lynn. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Warren “Bill” Jaubert, and his beloved aunt, Mary Virginia Feraud Legeai.

A service will be held on November 21st, 2023 at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Mandeville with visitation beginning at ten o’clock in the morning followed by mass at eleven. There will be a second graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans in December.  The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Henry's extraordinary life.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association in Henry's memory would be greatly appreciated.
