Helen Elizabeth Herleikson (Walker), born on November 6, 1924, in Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana. She was 100 years old.
Helen graduated from McMain High School and went on to build a life rooted in family, faith, and community. Over the years, she cultivated a home filled with warmth and creativity, sharing her talents and passions with those around her.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harland Herleikson, and their son Miles Herleikson.
Her memory lives on through the children: Harland Herleikson Jr. (Jeannie), Tonia Herleikson Ludwig (Ray), and Trina Herleikson Calhoun (Bill). Helen also leaves behind eight grandchildren—Ashley, Beth, Nancy, Kevin, Erik, Miles Jr., Joshua, and Zachary—and eight great-grandchildren who will carry forward the legacy of love and resilience that Helen embodied.
A person of many interests and talents, Helen found joy in quilting and sewing crafts that reflected both patience and artistry. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the camaraderie of the Well-Wishers and Helping Hands group. She also loved teaching children how to read. Bowling brought her both fun and fellowship over the years.
Faith played a meaningful role in Helen’s life. While she resided at the assisted living facility, The Trace, she was blessed by attending the Waldheim Church via their online ministry, where she found spiritual nourishment and community connection. She was further blessed by the 100-year birthday celebration that she did attend personally at the Church.
Helen’s long life was marked by devotion to family, enduring friendships, and a strength that touched all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
