Guy Alfred Guerra, age 71, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025. Born on November 22, 1954, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Guy was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish until Hurricane Katrina, after which he made his home in Poplarville, Mississippi.
Guy was preceded in death by his father, Rufino Joseph Guerra Jr., his grandparents, Rufino J. Guerra Sr. and Bertha Campo Guerra, as well as John C. Alfonso and Carmelita Molero Alfonso, and his great-nephews Ricky J. Guerra III, and Kerry M. Guerra Jr.
He is survived by his loving mother Thelma Alfonso Guerra, his devoted siblings, Ricky (Beth) Guerra and Tanya (Lanny) Villanueva, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply and unconditionally.
Throughout his life, Guy worked at Amax Nickel Refinery, served as a St. Bernard Parish fireman, and spent many years as a dedicated fisherman. He was a man of many passions—an avid hunter and fisherman, a lover of country music, gardening, storytelling, singing, woodworking, and anything connected to Native American culture. His generous spirit was his defining value; Guy gave freely of himself to everyone he met, always willing to lend a hand or share what he had.
Above all, he cherished his family, especially his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to his life-long friend Gene Alonzo and Johnny Fulmer for his steadfast friendship and companionship during the last year of Guy’s life. They would also like to express their profound gratitude to the nurses and staff of Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home for their care, kindness, and compassion.
Guy’s warmth, generosity, and unforgettable stories will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
