Gloria V. Mathon

Gloria Vicotria Gonsalves Mathon, age 75, of Mandeville, Louisiana passed away on May 6 th , 2025. She was born on March 4 th , 1950 in St. John, Antigua. Her beauty shined through her generosity, smile, and the love she had for her family throughout all of her years. Her career as a seamstress spanned over 50 years, during which she not only honed her craft, but also built lifelong friendships.

Gloria’s love extended beyond her professional life into her personal passions. She was particularly devoted to her grandchildren whom she adored profoundly: Curtis, Tyler, Ashley, and Sarah. Known affectionately as “Granny” throughout her neighborhood she could often be found in her garden. In which she tended with the same love and attention that she gave to her family. Her garden was as vibrant and colorful as the Caribbean landscape of her native Antigua, reflecting her heritage and spirit.

Granny is survived by her husband of 57 years, Raymond Mathon; daughters, Monique Gremillion (Steve) and Nathalie Vitter (Lance); and grandchildren. Her family and friends will continue to cherish her memory as a beacon of warmth and generosity.

Gloria will be remembered not only for her skilled hands and creative mind but also for her immense heart and the love she spread so freely throughout her community. As a beloved patient of Dr. Jack Saux, whom she loved dearly; the family requests in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Gloria’s name.

In accordance with her wishes, guests are encouraged to wear their favorite island or beach attire to honor Gloria’s vibrant spirit. Her request was for a joyful, colorful gathering rather than a somber occasion. Her Celebration of Life will be held at Bagnell Funeral Home in Covington, Louisiana on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 5pm to 8pm.
