It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Glenda Gail Ray Horst on September 10, 2024. Thomas Campbell said that to live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die. In that sense, Glenda will live on through her family and friends.
Her greatest joy was spending time with the family that she loved fiercely and cheering on her mighty LSU tigers. Glenda had an adventurous soul and loved traveling. She left her footprint behind in most of the states in our country and in many European countries. Her naturally curious mind consumed books and the knowledge they contained. She was a gardener whose beautiful yard was the envy of many. Glenda was also a master in the kitchen where she created many delicious recipes that made their way into the series of seafood cookbooks she co-authored with her husband. Her family was always happy to help with that research!
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerald Horst; son, Jason Horst (Inge); daughter, Lisa Horst Gros (Daniel); granddaughters Madison Horst, Lauren Horst, Leah Horst, and Blythe Gros; grandsons Julian Gros, Grant Gros, and Jake Gros; brother, Dickey Ray; sisters Melanie Ray Murry and Roxanna Ray Herring; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Cloyd and Elsie Carlin Ray, and her sister, JoAnn Ray Squires. Their joyful heavenly reunion is a comfort to those of us mourning their loss.
