Glen Anthony Bonin, Sr., 74 years passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026 from Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in New Orleans to Albertha Deeters and Walter Bonin, Sr. He was a resident of Madisonville, LA and formerly lived in Harvey, LA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Barbara Dahmer Bonin and two sons Glen Anthony Bonin, Jr. (Melissa) and Jesse Bonin. He is also survived by his two sisters Evelyn Cambre (Drew) and Shirley Mevers (Guy) and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents Albertha and Walter Bonin, Sr., his brother Walter Bonin, Jr. and sister Albertha ‘Bertie’ Wallace.
He was a wonderful husband and father. He loved watching the Mass and Praying the Rosary on EWTN. He was a devoted weight lifter and it captured his life for the better part of 40 years. He loved his beer and Sunday football and had a gift of coming up with off-the-cuff comic oneliners that could make even the most po-faced person chuckle. He spent many Summer vacations at the beach having fun with family where he got the nick-name ‘Skittle-Butt’ and playing Booray. He especially enjoyed spending time with Barbara, Glen, Jr., Melissa and Jesse at their cabin in Mentone, AL making beautiful memories in the mountains for a lifetime.
Family and friends are invited to attend a remembrance of his life on Friday January 9, 2026 at St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville, LA. Visitation will begin at 12:30pm followed by Praying the Rosary and a Christian Mass at 01:30 PM. Internment will be private.
We will always carry his memory in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to EWTN (www.ewtn.com) or Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinson.org).
