George Kenneth “Kenny” Rice passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on May 1, 1943, in Roanoke, Virginia, and grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri, before making his home in Metairie and later Covington, Louisiana. Kenny was a talented athlete, competing in football, track, and wrestling before receiving a football scholarship to Tulane University. After an injury changed his path, he attended LeTourneau College in Texas, where he earned his degree and became an electrical engineer.

Kenny went on to have a successful career with BellSouth, Motorola, and Entergy, retiring as a project manager. He was the designated handyman in his family, never afraid of a challenge and always determined to find a solution. In retirement, he enjoyed painting with oils and acrylics, playing golf and pickleball, riding in the Krewe of Thoth parade, and spending time with his family. He also had a special love for animals, especially his many dogs throughout the years. Kenny will be remembered for his hardworking nature, creativity, sense of humor, memorable sayings, and love and dedication to his family.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 58 years, Fay Duplantier Rice; children, Nicole Rice Maurin (James Maurin) and Kyle Kenneth Rice; grandchildren, Tyler Maurin (Erin Maurin) and Megan Maurin; and soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Hallie, along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Gulker Rice and Ernest Webb Rice; his older brother, Ernie Webb Rice Jr.; and his twin brother, Benjamin Keith Rice.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joanne Pigott, Joe Harkins, the Angels at Peristyle, and Enhabit Hospice for the care, kindness, and compassion they showed Kenny and his family.

Kenny will be remembered as a man who could fix nearly anything, loved a good challenge, and could paint any cloud in the sky. His family will carry his memory with them always.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at St. Timothy on the Northshore, located at 335 Asbury Drive, Mandeville, LA 70471. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the service immediately following.
