George Earl Prestridge, Jr., 61, of Pearl River, LA, was called home suddenly on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
George was the beloved son of the late Carolyn Cantrell Perez and George E. Prestridge, Sr. He was born in New Orleans, LA, and grew up in St. Bernard Parish, where he attended St. Bernard High School.
George was preceded in death by his father, George Earl Prestridge, Sr.; his mother, Carolyn Marie Cantrell Perez; his stepfather, Leland Joseph Perez, Sr.; his stepmother, Earlyne Joy Beach Prestridge; his brothers, Paul Leland Prestridge and Leland Joseph Perez, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Lloyd Joseph Cantrell, Sr., and Rena Ebanks Cantrell; his paternal grandparents, James Herbert Prestridge, Sr., and Mae Belle Chenault Prestridge; and his nephew, Timothy Cameron Favre.
He is survived by his sisters, Patrice Arianne Prestridge Jones (Chris) of Austin, TX, and Susan Renée Prestridge; his brother, Chad Raphael Prestridge (Melanie) of Carriere, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
George proudly worked as a pipefitter and operator in the oil and gas industry, where his strong work ethic, expertise, and camaraderie earned him the respect of many colleagues. After retiring, he devoted his time to the things he loved most—his family, his friends, and his passions.
A true sports fan, George was an avid supporter of the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints, cheering them on with unmatched enthusiasm. He also loved the traditions of Mardi Gras and never missed an opportunity to celebrate life with those around him. George shared his father’s passion for playing pool, and over the years made many cherished friendships through the game. He enjoyed trips to the casinos, live music, and attending concerts and sporting events with friends and family.
George had a timeless sense of style and was a dapper dresser, never missing the chance to top off his look with his signature fedora. In his younger years, he treasured time spent hunting and fishing with his dad and grandpa, creating memories that remained close to his heart. He was also an excellent cook, a skill he developed while working at Mutt’s Restaurant, his family’s place in St. Bernard Parish. Above all, George adored his momma, and his love for her was evident throughout his life.
Known for his happy-go-lucky nature, booming laugh, quick smile, and fierce loyalty to family and friends, George was always ready to lift the spirits of those around him or protect them if the need arose. He was generous with his time and his heart, and he leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and love that will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of George’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at House of Refuge Church, 2019 Wildwood Rd., Picayune, MS. Interment will follow at New Palestine Cemetery, Picayune, MS, where he will be laid to rest near his momma, dad, and brother Paul.
George will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
