Gene Arthur Smith

Gene Arthur Smith of Amite, Louisiana passed away on March 30, 2024 at the age of 81 with his family at his side. 

Gene leaves behind to cherish his loving memories, his wife Laurie J. Crenshaw Smith, his children; Dr. Angela Jones (D.), John Hall, Kevin Hall, Jeremy Long, Angela Long, Dr. Shannon Smith (David), Melody Grimes (Christopher), as well as sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. 

Gene is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Washington Smith and Velma Ophelia Smith, as well as his siblings Julius Smith, Elaine Smith-Cooper and Tommy Smith. 

He had a love for camping, fishing, watching Gunsmoke and traveling. He was Chief Engineer for Global Industries and worked offshore in many Countries, he was also a member of the Mason and Shriners. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church 64671 LA-1054 Roseland, Louisiana 70456 at 1:30 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m.
