Gayle Walker Maddin passed peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana.
Gayle, daughter of Claude and Eunice Walker, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rene Davidson, and later by her loving husband, Rev. Dr. James Lawrence ("Larry") Maddin; as well as three siblings, Gregory Walker, Jessica Walker Held, and C.B. Walker.
Gayle was a devoted mother to her children, her pride and joy: Margeurite Lynn Davidson Morris (Michael), Cynthia Ann Davidson Bennett (Kevin), Alysia Gayle Davidson Bennett (Keith), Rene Edward Davidson II (Stacey), and a cherished presence in the lives of Becky Maddin Dufrene (Kerry), Bruce Maddin and the late Jim Maddin. She was also blessed with nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted and loving sister, Claudette Walker, who was a loving, caring companion during Gayle's later years.
Gayle, was a devoted member of St. Timothy Methodist Church and was actively involved in many organizations throughout Louisiana. Along with her husband Rev. Dr. Larry Maddin, who was a longtime pastor of St. Timothy.
Gayle was a fabulous cook and talented seamstress! She poured love into every dish she prepared and every stitch she sewed. Her love for serving her family, friends, and community was a guiding light throughout her life and will be remembered by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank Brenda Cunningham for her years of service, devotion & care to Gayle, along with the staff at Passages Hospice, Creole Cottage & Avanti Senior Living.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11:30 AM, following visitation from 10 AM to 11:30 AM, at St.Timothy Methodist Church on the Northshore, 335 Asbury Drive, Mandeville, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Timothy Methodist Church on the Northshore.
