Obituary

Frank Dominic “Donnie” Natal, Jr. passed away on the morning of September 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, adventures, and stories that will be told for generations.

Donnie was truly one of a kind. If you had the pleasure of meeting him, chances are you never forgot him. He had a larger-than-life personality, loved people, loved having a good time, and above all, loved his family and friends with a passion.

Donnie was the son of the late Frank Dominic Natal, Sr. and the late Geraldine Diaz. He is survived by his son, Frank Dominic “Donnie” Natal, III, his daughter-in-law Annalaura LeBlanc Natal, and the absolute pride and joy of his life, his only granddaughter, Rachel Riley Natal.

Donnie was previously married to the late Renee Natal, the mother of his son. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Belfour Natal, whom he loved dearly. Through Patricia, his family grew to include Ross and Kelli, along with their spouses, Rebekah and Lucien.

He is also survived by his brothers: Ronnie, Chris, Ricky, and Randy; his sisters, Janice and Barbara; and Frank Sr.’s wife, Karen Natal. He was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah.

No story about Donnie’s family would be complete without mentioning his four-legged companions, Boomer and Junior. They will miss him greatly.

A Life Built Around People

Donnie founded Natal’s Air Conditioning in 1974, and serving his customers became much more than a career, it became one of his greatest accomplishments. His motto was: “Service Honoring the Golden Rule”.

Those words reflected the way Donnie believed business should be done: treat people the way you would want to be treated. Over the years, many customers became friends, and many friends became customers.

Outside of work, one of Donnie’s favorite pastimes was tennis. Some of his fondest memories were made at Lake Forest Racquet Club and West End Tennis Club. He played with countless partners, competed in, and won, many tournaments, and developed lifelong friendships along the way…friendships that meant far more than any trophy ever could.

Donnie loved being outdoors and rarely stayed still for long. He loved fishing, hunting, golf, snow skiing, sailing, cooking, and throwing a great party. He loved traveling the world, experiencing new places, meeting people, and making memories wherever he went.

Of all the places his adventures took him, Costa Rica captured a special piece of his heart. After purchasing townhomes there with good friends, Costa Rica became much more than a vacation destination; it became a second home and a place he looked forward to returning to again and again.

He loved the warm weather, the ocean, the beautiful scenery, the food, the people, and most of all, the time spent there with friends. Trips to Costa Rica meant laughter, long days enjoying life, good meals, great conversations, and memories made with people he cared about. He visited several times a year, and there was always a Costa Rica trip to look forward to. It suited Donnie perfectly: a beautiful place filled with adventure, friendship, sunshine, and a reminder to enjoy life while you still have the chance.

Pura Vida

For Donnie, it wasn’t simply a saying. It was a pretty good description of the way he chose to live. He was always ready for an adventure, and usually was already planning the next one.

One of Donnie’s favorite stories came from his sailing days, when he competed in the Hobie 16 World Championships. His claim to fame was that he tied for last place, a story he was probably prouder to tell than if he had actually won the thing.

That was Donnie.

Life wasn’t always about coming in first. It was about showing up, having the experience, making friends, creating a story, and enjoying every minute of the ride.

He Lived a Big Life

He worked hard, played hard, traveled, competed, cooked, golfed, fished, sailed, laughed, entertained, and collected friends everywhere he went. He loved his family deeply and valued the friendships he built throughout his lifetime.

There Will Never Be Another Donnie Natal

And for everyone fortunate enough to have known him, there will always be a Donnie story to tell.
