Florence Carolyn Tassin Stafford

Florence Carolyn Tassin Stafford, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 83. She was born on October 29, 1942, in New Orleans, Louisiana, a city she loved and carried in her heart throughout her life.

Florence was the daughter of Maurice Joseph Tassin and Marie Caroline Gonzales Tassin, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Henry Allen Stafford Sr.; her beloved children, Henry Allen Stafford Jr. and Carol Ann Stafford Lindsey; her siblings, Mary Ann Tassin, Maurice J. Tassin, and Douglas Andrew Tassin; and her sister-in-law, Lydia E. Tassin.

She leaves behind a family who was the center of her world: her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Donna Marie Stafford Fisher and Michael Charles Fisher; her son, Stacey Wayne Stafford; her daughter, Haley Alyssa Stafford, and Thomas Gianelloni.

Florence was the proud and loving grandmother of Michael W. Fisher (Logan W. Fisher), Kyle A. Fisher (Samantha Cordova), Henry A. Stafford III, Sylvester A. Stafford (Amelia Hebert), Douglas J. Stafford (Courtney V. Stafford), Zackary W. Stafford, Stephen A. Stafford (Courtney Ree Stafford), Haley A. Stafford (Payton R. Eiler), Gavin Buuck, and Chloe L. Alphonso (Jonathan Alphonso). Nothing brought a brighter smile to her face than watching her grandchildren grow and celebrating their accomplishments.

Her greatest joy continued with her cherished great-grandchildren: Samuel Barrett Fisher, Makayla Stafford, Madison Stafford, Hunter Stafford, Mason Stafford, Myles Stafford, and Archer Eiler. Each one held a special place in her heart and was a treasured part of her legacy.

She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, William J. Tassin (Deborah Tassin); her daughter-in-law, JoLynn T. Stafford; and her son-in-law, Armond Lindsey, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members whose lives were enriched by her love.

Florence was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. She loved the Lord with all her heart and found comfort in prayer, spending countless hours talking with God throughout each day. Her faith guided her through life's greatest joys and deepest sorrows, giving her strength, peace, and an unshakable hope that she quietly shared with everyone around her.

She found happiness in the simple blessings of life. Florence loved caring for her farm and the animals she adored. She had a remarkable gift for nurturing not only the land but everyone fortunate enough to know her. She enjoyed working puzzles, creating beautiful handmade jewelry, and handcrafted walking canes using wood carefully sourced from trees on her property.Although she once dreamed of selling them, her generous heart led her to give them away to anyone who could use one—a quiet reflection of the kindness that defined her life.

Her kitchen was the heart of her home, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Florence delighted in preparing large holiday meals, filling every room with the comforting aromas of home-cooked food, joyful laughter, and unconditional love. Her family will forever treasure those gatherings around her table, where everyone was welcomed, well fed, and deeply loved.

When she wasn't outside tending to her farm or spending time with her family, Florence could often be found enjoying classic Western television shows. Gunsmoke with James Arnez, Cheyenne with Clint Walker, and Wagon Train were among her favorites, she rarely missed an opportunity to settle in and enjoy watching her two favorite actors-in the stories she loved.

Florence's life was also enriched by the friendships she cherished. She held a special place in her heart for her dear friends, Mr. Walter and Ms. Amparo, whose companionship, kindness, and unwavering friendship brought her comfort, laughter, and joy throughout the years. Their love and support meant more to her than words could ever express.

Those who knew Florence will remember her witty personality, she would leave you to remember her and the laughs you had with her, also her generous heart, gentle spirit, unwavering resilience, and the unconditional love she so freely gave. She never hesitated to help someone in need, offer a listening ear, or open her home to family and friends. Her life was a beautiful example of compassion, humility, perseverance, and selfless love.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort knowing that her love lives on in every family gathering, every shared meal, every act of kindness, and every memory she helped create. Her legacy is woven into the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.

In accordance with Florence's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Her family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date, where family and dear friends will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and celebrate a life that was truly well lived.
