Ernest Gonzales, Jr.

Ernest John Gonzales Jr. was born on October 26, 1935 and passed away peacefully at age 86 on February 22, 2022 in New Orleans, LA. As a young man he proudly and honorably served his country in the Korean War, where he was also a member of the Military Intelligence Corps. Years later, Ernest worked for the United States Postal Service, where he retired.

Ernest is survived by the love of his life, Patricia Wallace Gonzales, his ten children, who he loved dearly, Brian Gonzales, Keith Gonzales, Kevin Gonzales, Shane Gonzales (Becky), Keyth Gonzales (Jamie), Chris Gonzales (Erin), his daughters Roxanna Gonzales, Kimberly Shook (Kenny), Sherrie Gonzales (Raymond), and Michelle Gonzales. He has a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers Alan and Richard Gonzales.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest John Gonzales Sr. and Elsie Reagan Gonzales, his son, Ernest John Gonzales III, and his son in law Kenneth Shook Jr.

Ernest never met a stranger and could hold a quick witted intellectual conversation with anyone. He never missed a chance to boast about his love for his wife, children, and grandkids. Ernest loved reading books, drawing and writing. He used those skills to send Christmas letters to his grandchildren during the holidays.

Honoring Ernest's wishes, the family will have private services and will spread his ashes across the mountains of Tennessee. The family appreciates all prayers while they mourn the loss of the patriarch of their family.
