Emile Edward Gardette Jr. was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on September 2, 2021 at the age of 70.
He is preceded in death by his parents Emile Edward Gardette Sr. and Marie Gardette Cheeseman, by his brothers Michael Gerard Gardette and David William Gardette, and by his stepfather Charles J Cheeseman.
He is survived by his nephew Michael Anthony Gardette(Nicole), niece Michelle Gardette Ruffino(Joseph), and niece Rachel Marie Gardette as well as having three great-nephews, 5 great-nieces, and sister- in-law Rhonda Roberts Gardette.
Emile valued family more than anything else in life and will be dearly missed for his generous spirit, quick wit, and impromptu humor.
Emile was a graduate of Cor Jesu High School in New Orleans and received his BS in Mathematics at the University of New Orleans. He was a native of New Orleans, a resident of Covington, Louisiana, and a parishioner of St.Benedict Catholic Church.
Emile dedicated 32 years of his life educating the students of Orleans Parish and thus was awarded Orleans Parish Teacher of the Year for the 1984-1985 school year.
He was an accomplished musician and also dedicated much of his time both training students and volunteering as an organist at Ressurection of Our Lord Catholic Church in New Orleans.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 30, at 11a.m., at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 with visitation beginning at 10a.m. Repast to follow at Most Holy Trinity’s Family Life Center. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer masses for Emile, or memorial contributions made to Most Holy Trinity’s hurricane Ida relief fund.
