Emanuel Montelongo, Sr., a native of St. Bernard parish and resident of Picayune, Mississippi passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the age of 89. Emanuel leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife Sally Molero Montelongo, children; Wendy Melerine (Kirk), Emanuel Jr., Vicki Barr (Rick) and Don Montelongo. Siblings; Eddie Montelongo (the late Myra), Richard Montelongo (Margie), Jacinta “Tinta” M. Alfonso (Stanley). Emanuel also leaves behind his grand children Kirk Melerine, Jr. (Anna), Richard Barr III (Melissa), Nicholas Barr Sr., Brandon Barr Rachel Martin Vogel (Nick), Rudy Melerine, Renee Martin Guidry (Lee), Joshua Fontana (Tenika), Sarah Montelongo Smith (Dean) and great grandchildren; Kate Melerine, Amelia Melerine, Brandon Barr, Tiffany Barr, Ashley Barr, Madeline Barr, Nicholas Barr Jr., Kyle Barr, Kaleb Barr, Stella Melerine, Ethan Vogel, Devin Serpas, Landen Guidry, Jax Guidry, Lyu Fontana, Nox Fontana, Naomi Smith, and Dean Smith.
Emanuel is preceded in death by his parents Manuel Montelongo, Sr., and Martha Hayes Montelongo, his twin brother, Manuel Montelongo, Jr. and siblings; Irene April, Juan Montelongo, Francisco Montelongo, Bernice Peterson, Norma Kessling Bertran (Jack), Robert Peterson (Loyce) and Raymond Sharp (Josie).
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 2621 Colonial Blvd. Violet, Louisiana 70092 with internment in the St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery 2805 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA, 70085
He graciously served his country in the United States Navy, Military Honors will be held at the Graveside Committal Service.
