Slidell

Edna Hoffmann Johnson, age 79, was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Edna was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School class of 1964. On October 15, 1966, she married the love of her life, Willie L. Johnson, Jr. They made their home in Chalmette until Hurricane Katrina hit in August of 2005. They moved to Slidell shortly thereafter and have never left. She worked at multiple medical offices over the span of 50+ years. She loved the work she did over that time, and made many acquaintences, and friendships.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory, including her devoted husband, Willie L. Johnson Jr.; her children, William "Billy" Johnson (Kara), Scott Johnson (Altee), and John "JJ" Johnson (Anjanette); her siblings, Arthur Hoffmann (Janis), Margaret Dubuisson, Hyacinth Serpas (Valance) and her sister-in-law Mildred Hoffmann; her beloved grandchildren, Jamilynne, Madeleine, Sidney, Abigail, Harper, and Sterling. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Raymond Hoffmann and Edna Marie Ducote Hoffmann; her brothers, John "Jay" Hoffmann (Jackie), Jerrel "Jerry" Hoffmann, and brother-in-law Joseph Dubuisson.

Edna lived life with warmth, laughter, and a deep love for family and friendship. In 1980, she was Queen of Gladiators Carnival Group. She was also an active member of the Shangri-La Carnival Group. She enjoyed participating in numerous softball and bowling leagues, where she formed many lifelong friendships.

In her free time, Edna loved playing Keno, cards, and a variety of games with her family and friends. She also enjoy the "girls" trips she took with her sisters, cousins, and friends. Her joyful spirit, quick smile, and love of gathering with those she cared about created countless treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Edna's legacy is one of love, devotion to family, and the happiness she brought to others. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hospice House of Slidell, P.O. Box 5806, Slidell, LA 70469.
