Dwight Wayne Carter "Critter," passed away on August 25, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana. He was born on December 19, 1953, in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
Dwight lived a life filled with love and passion. He was a hardworking individual who made a significant impact in his community as a volunteer firefighter for St. Tammany District 12. Dwight was also a skilled electrician and proudly owned a nuisance and animal removal business, "Carter Critter Getters." His dedication to his work and community was a testament to his character.
Those closest to him will remember Dwight for his many hobbies and interests. He had a deep love for hunting and fishing, often spending quality time outdoors. Dwight enjoyed woodworking, a skill that brought him joy and satisfaction. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and family, as well as his loving wife, Deborah K. Ouillber Carter, with whom he shared 51 wonderful years of marriage.
Dwight is survived by his beloved spouse, Deborah K. Ouillber Carter; his daughter, Brandy Mae Carter Wildey (Darrell); and his son, B.J. Wayne Carter (Angela). He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his sibling Kendall Carter, along with his grandchildren: James Hassell, Matthew Carter, Mikayla Carter Fontenot, Nathan Wildey, Zachary Carter, Andrew Wildey, Alexis Wildey, Chase Carter, Bella Carter, Jacob Carter, Dakota Cancienne, Mark Cancienne III, and Brooklynn Hampton.
Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Frank E. Carter, and his mother, Josie Linda Jenkins Gleber.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on September 5, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, located at 75212 Lee Rd, Covington, LA 70435—burial to follow in the Spencer Cemetery in Franklinton, Louisiana.
A reception to follow the committal service at Landmark Church of God, 20188 Landmark Lane, Covington, Louisiana
Dwight Wayne Carter will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory lives on through the love and joy he brought to his family and friends.
