Dorris Elane Hungerford, 80, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on April 1, 2021 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital after a battle with chronic pain and Alzheimers.
Dorris was born on December 26, 1940 to Kerney and Verna Solomon in Brooklyn, Mississippi. She attended Slidell High School and later went on to work at Slidell Memorial Hospital. In 1969, she met and married her husband of 21 years, Roy Vinson Hungerford, Sr.
Dorris was predeceased by her parents, husband and two of her sons, Roy Vinson Hungerford, Jr. and Mark Duane Blount; her brothers, Kerney Dewitt Solomon, Jerry Dean Solomon, and Ras Eugene Deakles. She is survived by her daughter, DeJune M. Hungerford and her sister, Peggy Parker; multiple grandchildren including Mark Blount, Jr., Miranda Blount, Alfred Lee Blount, Jr., Michael Blount, Christopher Blount, Jeanette Blount, and Destiny (Ryan) Chatham; more great-grandchildren than you can count on your two hands.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Country Inn & Suites in Covington, Louisiana on Sunday, March 11 at 4:00 pm.
