Digna "Dee" Sepulveda Lewis passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, in Hahnville, Louisiana. She was 88 years old.
Born on August 11, 1937, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Digna's life was marked by warmth, determination, and vibrancy. Her journey from her birthplace to establishing herself as a successful businesswoman in the United States exemplified her resilience and ambition. As an entrepreneur, she founded and managed a flourishing real estate business specializing in rentals and property management for homes and apartments. Her dedication and confidence were evident in every professional endeavor she pursued.
Outside of her career, Dee embraced life with a fun-loving spirit and a deep appreciation for her family. Her husband Carl Hunter and Dee raised their children Carl, Russell, Lori, and Leslie in Metairie, Louisiana. They enjoyed family vacations—camping in the mountains as well as relaxing on the beaches of Gulf Shores. Extended family gathered for Thanksgiving as Dee displayed her love of cooking and family. Dee also found joy in playing the piano, painting, dancing, and nurturing her garden. Roses held a special place in her heart, symbolizing the grace and love she brought to those around her.
Digna's legacy is one of strength, creativity, and love. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring comfort to those who cherished her presence.
Digna is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Sepulveda and Lucille Sepulveda Randler; brothers Frank and Henry Sepulveda; her son, Russell Patrick Hunter; and her grandson, Henry Martinez.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ronald O. Lewis; her son Carl David Hunter and his wife Melita; her daughters Lori Hunter Bercegeay and her husband Andre, and Leslie Hunter Martinez and her husband Gary. Dee’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Scott Martinez, Kristen Martinez, Carl Alberto Hunter, Isabella Hunter, Michelle Cacciapaglia, Patrick Hunter, Crystal Mabile, and Kelly Mabile; as well as her great-grandchildren: Karsyn and Caroline Martinez, Connor Cacciapaglia, and Ally Mabile. She is also survived by her brother Lou Sepulveda and his wife Debbie; sister-in-law Caroline Sepulveda; and many nieces and nephews.
