Devon Dutel

Devon Pierre Dutel tragically passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the age of 33. He was a resident of Bush, Louisiana, and the son of Barbara Jenson Dutel, his mother, of Mandeville, and his father, Louis G. Dutel, III, also of Bush. 

Devon’s early education began in New Orleans, having attended Townhouse Pre-School and St. Pius X Elementary School, and later graduating from schools in St. Tammany Parish, C.J.Schoen Middle School, Fontainebleau Junior and Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville. Following high school, Devon pursued a degree at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, GA.

Devon enjoyed being a talented artist, and over the years created paintings as gifts for loved ones. He was a self-taught musician, playing the guitar and forming a garage band. He also loved to draw cartoon characters, portraits, and calligraphy.  Eventually he became skilled at tattoo art and created a unique body canvas for his clients. In addition, Devon created satire, loved gaming and fishing. Devon loved music and loved to share his views of different music genres. 

Devon also learned culinary skills and the art of cooking New Orleans-style food. He worked for many notable restaurants. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Louis G. Dutel, Jr., and Nellie Northcutt Dutel. Both played an important role in his upbringing. Arthur Jenson and Blossom Jenson maternal grandparents.

What made Devon so special was his unique personality. He was full of life and had a heart of gold. Although Devon spent part of his life struggling with addiction, in his legacy, we celebrate 

the hope, Strength and Love Devon brought to our lives. He will live peacefully in eternity.

In addition to his parents, Devon is survived by two brothers, Jacques A. Dutel of Los Angeles, CA, and Louis G. Dutel, IV, of New Orleans. Also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as special relatives Angela Ouber Dutel, Harris Jenson, and Danie Jenkins Dutel.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, February 13. 2023, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75121 Highway 437 Covington, Louisiana 70435.  Internment will be held later at the family tomb in Metairie Cemetery.
