Obituary

On the Twenty-Third of October, 2026 at 05:45 PM, Debbie Joan Romero passed away peacefully in her home. She will be missed

Debbie Joan Romero was born September Tenth, 1957 to Rivers Romero and Beulah M. Lambert in New Orleans, Louisiana. She spent her formative years learning the importance of family alongside her siblings: AJ Falgout (Annette), Fred Falgout (Cindy), Nancy Kessler (Jimmy), Cindy Mayer (Buddy), and Rivera (Mike). It was in that house, at her mother's side, that Debbie learned the joy of cooking for others, a joy she carried the rest of her life.

In time Debbie's own family grew to include her children: Ronald 'Ronnie' Whitter,  Elice Sanchez (Lloyd), and Lenward 'Lenny' Stephens (Marcia). As the saying goes, blessings multiply and her family grew larger to include grandchildren: Aryna Hollander (Dean), Kalie Brumfield (John), Lloyd LJ Sanchez, Collin Vicknair, Logan Dantoni, Breyla Dantoni, Bella Pecot, Laura Weber, Chad McPhail, Emma McPhail, Razia Davis, Riot Stephens, Mitchell Sanchez, Mason Sanchez, Catrina Fresh, Alissa Sanchez; and great-grandchildren: Cameron, Bradley, Waylong, Landon, Kaylynn, Ophelia, Josie, Amora, and Destin

Debbie's love of family was lifelong. Including the chosen family lucky enough to have her call them her friends. She best expressed her love by cooking. She loved the looks of pure joy on people's faces and they first smelled, then saw, and finally ate what came out of her kitchen. She also enjoyed Bible Study at Talley's Chapel, participated in meetings of We CancerVive Washington Parish, and could often be seen making trouble with her fellow Red Hat Divas.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents: Rivers Romero and Beaulah M. Lambert; her husband Jimmy Martin, Her siblings Fred Falgout, Nancy and Jimmy Kessler, and Cindy and Buddy Mayer; grandchild: Emma McPhail; and great granchild: Kaylynn.

Debbie is survived by son Mark Martin and her siblings: AJ Falgout and Rivera; her children: Ronald, Elice, and Lenny; as well as many her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

An inurnment for Ms. Debbie Joan Romero will be held at the Enon Baptist Church, located at 14049 Hwy 16, Franklinton, Louisiana, on November 28th, 2026 beginning at 10:00AM. Immediately following will be a Celebration of life at Talley's Chapel Community Church, located at 26664 Hwy 16 Bogalusa, Louisiana.
