Darlene Marie Galbert, 71, of Slidell, La. passed away comfortably and peacefully Wednesday, October 26th at Ochsner Jefferson Main Campus surrounded by her daughter, son, and close family. She is proceeded in death by her husband Roy K. Galbert, her mother Carol “Patsy” Galatas, and brother Joey Galatas. She is survived by her daughter Deena Simmons (Todd), her son Zane Galbert (Danielle); four grandchildren Cassidy, Ty, Brooklyn, Breason and two great grandchildren Sylas and Harly.  She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone that knew her.
Darlene married her husband Roy in April of 1978.  She worked at Owens Packaging in New Orleans, La for several years and later was the assistant director at two different child day care centers in Slidell, La.   Darlene was a very hard-working wife and mother that did everything she could to make ends meet. She enjoyed camping with her husband followed by camping with her sister Carol at Sun Romer’s in Picayune, Ms.  Most days were spent popping bubbles on her smart phone, drinking her coffee in the mornings, watching action movies, Dr Pol and many other shows on tv and at the movie theater followed by watching the school buses fly down the busy street. She was an avid shopper at a few local discount stores such as Dirt Cheap, Ollies, Big-Lots, Hudson’s, and other similar stores.
Per Darlene’s wishes, she did not want funeral services. A celebration and remembrance of her life will be held at her residence at 3169 Duncan St on November 6th, 2022 from 11am til.  Family and Friends are invited to attend and share memories and stories of Darlene.  Please share photos of you and Darlene if you have any available.
