Dan Raymond Assevado, a lifelong resident of Yscloskey and a beloved member of the St. Bernard community, passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 75.
He was the devoted husband of Lenore Assevado, cherished father of Rebecca Assevado (Trey Richard), and loving grandfather to Madelyn Armstrong, with whom he shared a special bond. Dan was the son of the late Joseph Assevado Jr. and Patricia Assevado. He was also a cherished son of Raymond and Rema Ritter, whose unwavering love, quiet strength, and deep faith helped shape the man he became. Their influence was evident in the way he lived—with humility, kindness, and devotion to his family. He is survived by his brother Malcolm Assevado (Cynthia), and sisters Loyce Alonzo and Mona Flanagan. He was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Frichter.
Dan lived a life full of simple joys and deep passions. He loved spending time outdoors fishing and hunting, and enjoyed playing pool and poker with friends and family. He was especially fond of a cold Coca-Cola and a good hamburger—two of his favorite comforts. Above all, his greatest joy was being with his granddaughter Madelyn.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Friday, May 9, 2025, visitation will begin at 10:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 12:00PM. Interment to follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
Dan will be remembered for his easygoing nature, love for family, and the many moments of laughter he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
