Cletus Ben King, 85 passed away, Tuesday, April 29, 2025 peacefully at home. He was born on December 22, 1939 in Bush, Louisiana. He was the son of the late Morgan and Pearl King.
Cletus (CB) was well known in his community for his skill and knowledge of concrete. As a young man, he started working for Prestressed Concrete helping construct the Lake Pontchatrain Causeway Bridge. His vision was big and soon found himself in the mountains of Colorado helping build the Dillion Lake Damn. Thereafter, he would serve in The United States Army but it wouldn’t be long before he found himself back in the Rocky Mountains. Next stop, Alaska, where he worked as a Superintendent on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline in Prudue Bay, Alaska. This experience would be the beginning of his unsurpassed knowledge and skill to pour concrete. He spent sixty years on many projects in St. Tammany Parish from hospitals, hotels, parking lots, the streets of Greenleaves to the development of Beau Chene. His other great love, was the outdoors. He loved the mountains especially visiting Yellowstone National Park and watching the wildlife. He lived tenaciously and was always ready for a road trip.
He is survived by his wife Martha Marion King, daughters, Deanna King and Desiree’ King, step-daughters Louette Ragusa, Jolee Sunderland (Andy), Sonja Newman (Chevies), Micah Bujol (Paul) grandchildren Will, Hunter, Annie, Mary, and Camille. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Aaron, Patsy Hamilton, Norma Sharp, Dianne Clairain (Troy), and Kety Calmes along with many nieces and nephews.
Cletus was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Pearl King, brothers, Tilman Morgan King and Curtis Carter King, sister Betty Schelb and former wife Patricia Myers, mother of Deanna and Desiree’.
Funeral service to be held on May 5, 2025. At Bagnell & Son Funeral Home. 75212 Lee Rd. Covington, LA 70435. Arrival and visitation to begin at 10:00 AM, with service beginning at 12:00 NOON with Military Honors.
Burial will follow on May 7, 2025 at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, LA 70460 at 9:00am.
