Charles Rollin Camp, Jr. of Covington, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, under the dedicated care of the team at Heritage Manor. Born on December 17, 1926, in Mobile, Alabama, Charles lived a life full of purpose and dedication to his family and profession.
A proud graduate of Tulane University, Charles earned his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1948. He built a distinguished career, beginning his professional journey as an estimator for Keller Construction. His expertise and leadership led him to work for The Port of New Orleans, where he ultimately retired as the Chief of Construction.
Charles was the beloved husband of 68 years to Helen P. Camp, and a dedicated father to his sons, William Charles Camp and Brian Rollin Camp. Charles also held a special place in his heart for his niece, Peggy Lae, as well as her children, whom he loved dearly.
An avid lover of the arts, Charles enjoyed opera and enjoyed singing bass. His participation in the church choir was a testament to his faith and passion for music. Charles also had a profound interest in history, which he read about frequently throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Camp Sr. and Stella Burgett, as well as his sister, Stella Kearney.
Visitation will be held on July 26, 2025, beginning at 1pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2pm, located at Covington Presbyterian Church, 222 S Jefferson Ave, Covington, LA 70433. A reception will follow immediately after service at the church.
Charles Rollin Camp, Jr. will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the love and warmth he bestowed upon his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His family would like to thank both the team and the residents of Heritage Manor that helped them through this difficut time, as well as St. Catherine's hospice, for their kindess and compassionate care.
