Betty Wood Guzman

On Sunday January 29th, 2023, Betty Wood Guzman passed away following a brief illness. Betty Wood Guzman was 92 Years young. Betty was born on August 15th, 1930, in the small-town Headland, Alabama to Effie Bracken Wood and Lloyd Wood.
Betty had one brother, George Wood. At the age of 18 she left Headland Alabama for the big city of New Orleans, Louisiana where she attended the Baptist School of Nursing.

Betty met her husband Robert Joseph (Bobby) Guzman Jr while attending nursing school in New Orleans. Betty and Robert Joseph (Bobby) Guzman Jr. were married until his death in 1998. Betty and Bobby had Three Children. Robert Joseph (Donie) Guzman III, Kim Saxon Guzman Sr. and Dona Jean Guzman Starnes, one daughter-in-law, Eileen Soldani Guzman, wife of Kim Saxon Guzman Sr., one grandson Kim Saxon Guzman Jr. and his wife Gina Guzman, one Very, Very Special granddaughter Betty Lou Starnes, and three great grandchildren, Mallorie Guzman, Ross Guzman and Harper Guzman.

Words could never adequately express all the kindness and love Betty gave and shared with family and friends. We should honor Betty and those who are no longer with us in our daily deeds. I learned from my mother to always be kind to others, enjoy the time you have with your family, be proud of accomplishing what you set out to do and always be sweet to Eileen.

We wish our mother a safe journey and a joyful reunion with those she loved, and have missed since their passing. As per Betty’s wish, there will NOT be any visitation or funeral service for her. Those wishing to express their condolences may donate to any Alzheimer’s Disease research charity of your choice.
