Betty Brown had an incredible career in retail, spending nearly 30 years at Walmart before retiring. She was a fiercely devoted, loyal, and loving wife to William "Billy" Brown Jr., as well as a cherished mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. However, no one was confused about her priorities once her grandchildren were born — the latter part of her life was dedicated to loving, supporting, and enjoying them to the very end.

Betty was born and raised in Ferriday, Louisiana, spending much of her time in Pittsfield, a place that holds deep historical value and a wealth of memories for the entire Whitley family to this day. She and Billy met in high school and married in the early 1970s. Anyone who knew them would describe them as the life of the party — the kind of couple who would dance the night away — a love that endured until his passing in 2021.

Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband William 'Billy' Brown; her parents, Ben Whitley and Ethel B. Whitley; as well as her brother the late Henry McKeal (Annie).

Betty is survived by her daughters: Cheryl Lannette Hampton, Jamila A Brown, and Katie L. Brown; her siblings: Sallie Whitley, Lizzie Antione (Robert), Edna Piercefield, Shelly Tigler (David), Barry Whitley (Diane), Jerry Whitley (Cheryl), Linda Whitley, Doris Riggins (Larry), Ben Whitley Jr., Charles Whitley (Gloria), Vera Lewis (Freddie), and James Whitley; as well as her precious grandchildren; DeAnthony Jalen Brown, Jack Gilmore IV, Zari Brown, and Kailen Jaxen Brown.

Betty leaves behind a legacy not measured in years, but in the lives she touched, the laughter she sparked, and the love she gave without condition. She didn't just show up for her family — she showed out. And while her dance on this side is done, those who loved her know she's already two-stepping with Billy again.
