Bette Doucet
Thibodeaux
April 4, 1935 – April 1, 2026
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bette Doucet Thibodeaux of Covington Louisiana on the first of April, 2026.
Bette Doucet Thibodeaux was born in Elton, Louisiana on the fourth of April, 1935 to Jessie Doucet of Church Point, Louisiana and Viney Crews of Eunice, Louisiana. Growing up in deep Louisiana amongst her sisters: Wilda Courville, Sue DeBarge, and Kathryn Doucet; Bette gained an appreciation for the competitive spirit, a love of art, and a desire to see what the rest of the world had to offer.
In her early adulthood Bette met Evans 'Tip' Thibodeaux Sr. together they filled their home with the warmth of family, raising Jesse Matt (Ruthie), Tony Matt, and Jason Thibodeaux (Danielle).
Her love of art was lifelong, she was a Student at Delgado Community College for many years, and loved producing art of her own. Bette was a founding member of the Red Hat Society on the West Bank and enjoyed attending and organizing their monthly events; attending plays, movies, craft fairs and dining out. She enjoyed watching her sons play sports and rarely missed a football game on TV; she was even an athlete in her own right, participating in her local bowling league and taking her dog on bike rides to stay fit. Bette loved travelling across America, taking cruises and visiting Europe.
Bette is preceded in death by her parents Jesse Doucet and Viney Crews; her sisters, Wilda Courville, Sue DeBarge, and Kathryn Doucet; her husband Evans Thibodeaux; and her daughter Pam DuBose.
She is survived by her children, Jesse Matt, Tony Matt, Jason Thibodeaux and Evans Thibodeaux Jr.; as well as eleven grandkids and 9 great grandkids.
A celebration of Bette's life will be held at a time and place yet to be determined.
