Barbara Ann Greeley Adler (Barbie) gracefully left us on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, transitioning to a new world while soundly asleep. Her son Greeley Lawrence Adler, daughter-in-law Brandon Wright Adler, and granddaughter Louisiana June (Lulu), remain to cherish and share their memories of her. Barbie is also survived by her beloved sister, Kay Greeley LeGros, and a host of extended family members too numerous to mention. Her husband, Uwe Manfred Adler, and their youngest son, Kurt Alfred Adler, departed this life in 2011 and 2020 respectively, and the three are now surely happily reunited.
Barbie, a daughter of Carmen Thibodaux and Lawrence Greeley, was born and raised in New Orleans, attended Archbishop Blenk High School and USL in Lafayette. She, Uwe, Greeley, and Kurt settled in Mandeville, La. around 1990, after living in New Orleans, Atlanta and Charleston. During their thirty-plus years in Mandeville, many enduring, loving friendships blossomed.
Barbie was a gifted artist, painting primitives in the style of Clementine Hunter, but in greater detail. Her work has been exhibited in New Orleans galleries, international festivals, and private showings throughout Louisiana.
Incredibly witty, a fabulous cook & hostess, and an impeccable dresser, Barbie was very well-loved by all who knew her. She adored her pets, Oscar Lee and Clarence, who are lucky to have had her to love them, as are we all.
Our memories of shared experiences and escapades will no doubt be recounted with joy and laughter for many years to come.
A celebration of Barbie’s life will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Pontchartrain Yacht Club, Lakeshore Drive at Jackson Avenue, starting at 2:00 p.m. The family would welcome presentations of your favorite memories or Barbie stories during this celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St Francis Animal Sanctuary, 813 Florida Street, Mandeville, La., 70470, preferred.
