Barbara J. Thompson

November 18, 1949 — May 4, 2025

Bush, Louisiana

Barbara J. Thompson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 4, 2025, in Cov, Louisiana. Born on November 18, 1949, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Barbara spent her life nurturing those she loved and embracing the simple joys that brought warmth to her heart.

A devoted family woman, Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Thompson, and her cherished daughter, Krystal Thompson McNutt (Brian). The bond she shared with her grandson, Micah McNutt, was particularly special; he often joined her on trips to the local library, where their mutual love for reading blossomed. Barbara's garden was a true reflection of her vibrant spirit—filled with blooming flowers, potted plants, and the nurturing touch she extended to all things in her life.

Barbara had an insatiable love for music, and even in her quiet moments at home, the melodies that played in the background felt like a comforting embrace. Over the years, she became a wellspring of wisdom, offering invaluable advice on life’s lessons that will echo in the hearts of her family and friends for years to come. She had a remarkable gift for listening, and her insightful words brought clarity and comfort to many during trying times.

In addition to her immediate family, Barbara held dear her sisters, Judy Flynn (Greg) and Ann Williams (Bobby), and took pride in being a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews: Tamara Tisdale (Michael), Shauna Taylor (James), Eric Flynn, Joshua Williams (Niacole), and Jeremy Williams. She also enjoyed a close relationship with her sister-in-law, Joyce McWilliams.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Jenkins and Lela Jenkins, and her in-laws, Rachel Thompson and David Thompson. While they are no longer with us, their influence undoubtedly shaped the loving woman Barbara became.

Visitation will be held on May 6, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, both taking place at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home in Covington, Louisiana.
