Ardath Zimmerman was born on January 15, 1927, in Jacksonville, Florida, and she passed away peacefully, in her daughter's home, on April 12, 2026, in Metairie, Louisiana. She lived a long and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of many with her kindness and warmth.
Ardath loved spending her time gardening. She found joy in tending to her plants and watching them grow, which brought her peace and happiness. Traveling was another passion of hers; she enjoyed exploring new places and creating lasting memories. Most of all, Ardath cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into her life.
She is survived by her son, Harry Zimmerman, and her daughter, Donna Foster. Ardath also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Linda Zimmerman, and cherished grandchildren Kristi Tatum, Michael Foster, Kelly Foster, and Sean Foster. Her family extends to great-grandchildren Natalie Rome, Tyler Rome, Emily Foster, Ava Foster, Collin Foster, Evan Foster, Katie Habel, and Jake Habel. In addition, Ardath’s sister-in-law, Linda Carter, remains part of her close family circle.
Ardath was preceded in death by her spouse, Harry P. Zimmerman, who shared many years of her life. She also mourns the loss of her father, John Carter, and her mother, Irene Schrimp. Other family members who have passed before her include her son-in-law, Thomas Foster; her siblings Herbert Carter, his wife Yola Carter, William Carter, his wife Jean Carter, Mary Katherine Kennedy , her husband William Kennedy and John Carter.
Throughout her life, Ardath’s family and friends knew her as a gentle soul with a generous heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Ardath’s family will remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her story will be carried forward by the many lives she touched with her kindness and care.
