Anthony John Matthews

Anthony John Matthews, born on August 14, 1969, passed away on April 20, 2025. He was a loving father and a cherished son, who touched the lives of many with his kindness and passion.

Anthony was a remarkable individual, known for his participation in the Para Olympics, where he excelled in track, field, and shot put. He had deep love for animals and enjoyed spending time sailing. His hobbies included building model trains and exploring the intricate world of computer engineering.

He is survived by his mother, Sammie Jane Rapold Matthews; his daughter, Sara Elizabeth Matthews Waldrop; and sister Virginia Lea Matthews. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony John Matthews.

A visitation will be held on April 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, located at 75212 Lee Rd, Covington, LA, 70435. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. Anthony will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
