Timothy Branaman

d. February 10, 2017

Timothy Branaman of New Orleans, Louisiana was called home on Friday, February 10, 2017 the age of 54. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Parsons, his mother, Joyce Branaman, brothers, Thomas and Troy Branaman, step-children, Nathanial Totten, Louise Duffield, Matthew Totten, and Dr. Rebecca Minzoni, six grandchildren, and an immeasurable number of family and friends who care deeply for him. He was the true definition of devoted husband, loyal friend, and servant of God. He had a voracious appetite for life.

Tim spent his early childhood in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Louisiana.  He studied Computer Science at the University of New Orleans where he met and fell in love with his wife, Karen.  As a Software Engineer, he worked in various project management and development roles and started his own software development business.  He enjoyed a natural curiosity and a passion for learning.  He did not hesitate to dive into the details. He could drive friends crazy with his questions and challenges in an attempt to fully explore and understand the Lord’s teachings.  He was an avid student of meteorology, astronomy, and the Greek language.  He believed in God’s grace and was a long time member of Edgewater Baptist Church.  Tim was a builder and invested himself in learning all aspects of construction.  He built their beautiful home after Katrina.  He was humble in his successes and very encouraging of others.

Tim loved to play whether with his grandchildren, canoeing, bike riding or teasing everyone around him. He had an incredible capacity to serve others be they family, friends, or complete strangers.  He served with a cheerful heart, open and unafraid. He looked after Karen in every way and was steadfast in her happiness.  Their love for each other was apparent to all. He will be profoundly missed.

A joyful celebration of Tim’s life was held at a living memorial before Tim’s death.  Family and friends gathered to roast and toast him and he participated loudly and gratefully. How appropriate for Tim to choose the day of a triple celestial event for his exit and new beginning.

In lieu of flowers, Tim's family asks to consider making a charitable contribution to be used for a prison ministry fund.  Contributions can be sent to Edgewater Baptist Church, 5900 Paris Ave, New Orleans, LA  70122.
