Robert Scott

July 16, 1931 — November 15, 2018

Robert Wayne Scott passed away on November 15, 2018, Covington, LA. Born July 16, 1931 in  Coaldale, Alberta. Wayne grew up on a farm in Alberta, Canada, along with his brothers Stan and Lynn, and sister Arlene.

As a young man, he moved to Smithers, British Columbia, and signed on for an automotive mechanic apprenticeship. This began his lifelong vocation fixing and tinkering with vehicles of all types.

In 1955, Wayne began courting a vivacious young woman by the name of Evelyn Muriel Rankin after meeting at a dance in Vancouver, BC. They married on April 7, 1956 and went on to celebrate 62 years of marriage.

Together, Wayne and Evelyn raised three children: Erin, Barbara and Steven and settled into family life in Prince George, BC. They were blessed by the arrival of seven grandchildren some years later.

Wayne gave his life to Jesus in 1974 – and never looked back.  His purpose was now set; his steps never faltered.  He shared the hope he carried in his heart to all who were in need or searching for meaning through Christ.  He loved God’s people and they loved him right back.  Wayne spent many years leading the local chapter of his Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship and also ministering to hurting young men in Teen Challenge.  His, and Evelyn’s, door was always open to care for folks and pray over them – day or night.

Wayne and Evelyn moved to Louisiana to live with Barbara in June of 2016 and Wayne became a US citizen a year later. He passed away peacefully at the age of 87 after a short stay in a nursing home. His last words to Evelyn were “I love you”.

Wayne’s legacy of love and laughter live on in his family: his beloved wife Evelyn Muriel Scott, daughters Erin Scott Ashley and Barbara (Bryan) Markland, and son Steven (Maria Alcantara) Scott. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Devon and Torrin Ashley, Zachary, Laurel and April Markland, Natasha and Arianna Scott.

John 4:13-14 Jesus answered and said … Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again.  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
