Maria Cimino

Mrs. Maria Randazzo Cimino, 89, of Destrehan and Covington, LA, passed away on August 4, 2018 in Destrehan, LA after a long illness.

Maria was born in the village of San Cipirello in the Province of Palermo, Sicily, Italy to Giuseppina (Josephine) Randazzo of New Orleans, LA and Antonio Randazzo of San Cipirello, Palermo, Sicily, Italy. Maria graduated college with degrees in fashion design and creation and went on to become a Professor in those arts. During her career Maria designed and made clothes for some of the foremost society women in Atlanta, Ga. and New Orleans, La.

Maria continued to enjoy sewing well into her eighties. She was an extremely talented woman who could do anything with fabric that was possible; drapes, upholstery, clothing, lace, and embroidery - absolutely anything! She was a talented cook, an amazing and adored mom, grandmother and great grandmother “Nonni”, and a dear friend to those who knew her. Maria was very often described as a “beautiful and gracious lady” and a “beautiful soul” who charmed everyone she met.

Maria is survived by her children, son, Anthony “Tony” Cimino and his children with Mignonne Lanaux Cimino; David Antony Cimino and his wife Ashley, Kathleen Elizabeth Cimino Cannino and her husband Josiah, Ryan Paul Cimino, and Jonathan Patrick-Joseph Cimino; her son Andrea “Andy” Cimino and his wife Leesa Kieffer Cimino with whom she lived and who took loving care of our mother for many years, their children, Jessica Lynn Cimino Goodman and her husband Daniel, and their son, Daniel Michael Cimino and his fiancé Emily Schexnaydre; her daughter, Maria Paula Cimino Jones and her husband Paul, and her great grandchildren, David Maxwell Cimino, Abigail Mae Cimino, Noah Michael Cannino, Sofia Kate Marie Cannino, and Micah James Goodman. She is also survived by her beloved son-in-law, Kenneth R. Fielder.

There will be a Visitation at Bagnell and Son Funeral Home in Covington, LA on Thursday, August 9th from 11:30-12:30.  A funeral mass will follow at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Abby also in Covington. Graveside services will be held immediately after mass at the St. Joseph Abby Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Cimino wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Ormond Nursing and Care and to St. Catherine’s Hospice.

Our mom and grandmother and great grandmother “Nonni” will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.
