Joyce Mitchell

In Loving Memory of Joyce Massa Mitchell, 86, of Abita Springs, La., Joyce joined our Lord and Savior February 24, 2018 after a short battle with cancer.  A Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Joyce was born April 22, 1931 in New Orleans, La. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy School in New Orleans, La.

Joyce departed this earth on the wings of Angels.  Joyce said she’d been there, done that and is moving on up!  Joyce soared to heaven to join the love of her life, Robert Denzil Mitchell, Jr.     As the big band played, they danced cheek to cheek along with her mother and father, Sylvia Carona Massa and Robert Anthony Massa.  Joyce is survived by her children, Guy Steven and Jan C. Mitchell, Sylvia M. Lowe, Robbin M. Allen, and Patti A. Mitchell along with 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren as well as her brother, Robert Antonio Massa and a host of nieces and nephews.

Joyce was active in her community as a member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary,  bingo, the Abita Springs Red Hat Society, and the Abita Springs Senior Group.  Joyce was a member of St. Jane de Chantal church and enjoyed her Saturday evening worship and dinner with close friends.  Please join Joyce’s family in celebration of her life on Wednesday February 28,2018 at St. Jane de Chantal church, 72040 Maple St, Abita Springs, LA 70420 with visitation at 10am and Mass at 11am.  Interment to follow in the Abita Springs Cemetery.
