Charles Hammer

Charles Hammer was called home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, in Folsom, LA. He was born June 9, 1938 in New Orleans, LA. In 1958, he joined the US Navy, where he served our country on the U.S.S Wallace L. Lind as a boatswain mate. He retired in 1998 from Rubicon after 20 years of service as a production technician. Charlie had a love of the water and looked forward to spending weekends on his boat and socializing with his friends on the Tchefuncte riverfront in Madisonville. He had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest to the very end. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Elaine Coates Hammer, and his parents, Charles Hammer Jr. and Edith Autin Hammer. Charlie is survived by his loving daughters Yvonne Clawitter (Charlie Jochum) and Rhonda Wolkart (Kent), grandson Kasey Wolkart (Courtney Larson), His sister Sandy Morin and his late life companion Audrey Wedig. Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on August 6,2019 at St. Anselm Catholic Church 306 St Mary St, Madisonville, LA 70447 at 9:00 a.m. with A Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery 1950 Soniat St, New Orleans, LA 70117.
